Medical microneedling & PRP (vampire facial) in Wolfsburg

Collagen induction via microneedling, combined with your own plasma – for fresher, more even skin.

Medical microneedling with PRP – colloquially a “vampire facial” – combines two skin-regeneration methods in Wolfsburg: physician Rafee El Kaddour uses a sterile microneedling pen to create many fine micro-channels in the skin and then works in the platelet-rich plasma (PRP) obtained from your own blood. Together these are intended to stimulate the body’s own collagen production – for more freshness, smoother skin and an improvement in acne scars. It adds no volume like a filler.

What is medical microneedling with PRP?

In medical microneedling a sterile pen creates many fine micro-injuries in the skin in a controlled way, prompting its natural repair and collagen formation. In addition, a small amount of blood is drawn and centrifuged to obtain the platelet-rich plasma with its growth factors. This plasma reaches the skin directly through the freshly created micro-channels – the combination is called a “vampire lift” or “vampire facial”.

Medical microneedling differs markedly from a home dermaroller: we work with a motorized pen at a controlled depth matched to the skin region, using sterile single-use tips. This allows more targeted, safer treatment than superficial home devices, which carry an infection risk if used unhygienically.

The point of the combination lies in the micro-channels: they act as a transport route through which your own PRP reaches exactly where regeneration is triggered. The plasma’s growth factors are intended to further support collagen and elastin formation. The result therefore develops gradually over weeks rather than all at once.

We brief you honestly on realistic results and limits beforehand. Because the PRP comes from your own blood and we use sterile single-use systems exclusively, allergic reactions are very unlikely. PRP improves skin quality – it replaces neither a filler (volume) nor a lift (skin tightening).

Results & longevity

Results & course

Right after the treatment the skin is sunburn-like red. First effects on freshness and skin feel appear after one to two weeks; the result continues to build over the sessions and the following four to six weeks, as collagen formation takes time. Results are natural and vary individually; a top-up maintains the effect.

Results are individual and can vary depending on your starting point, muscle activity and dosing. You will receive a realistic assessment for your situation in a personal consultation.

An honest assessment

What does the evidence say?

Honestly: the best evidence is for acne scars. Several studies and reviews show that microneedling can improve scarring and that the combination with PRP tends to perform better than microneedling alone. As a caveat, these are mostly small, partly non-randomized studies without a standardized PRP protocol – robust large trials are still lacking.

For general skin rejuvenation (fine lines, skin quality) the evidence is thinner and more individual. Microneedling with PRP is not a filler and not a lift: it adds no volume and does not tighten lax skin, but is intended to stimulate skin quality. Results vary individually and cannot be guaranteed – we advise you honestly whether the method makes sense for your goal.

Safety & guidance

Risks & side effects

Risks & side effects

  • Common and temporary: sunburn-like redness, mild swelling and a feeling of tightness, usually for one to two days.
  • Pinpoint minor bleeding during the treatment is normal.
  • Occasionally: small crusts, dry skin or temporary pigment changes, especially without sun protection. Rare: infection.
  • Because your own blood is used, allergic reactions are very unlikely.
  • Please contact us with fever, increasing redness, pain or signs of infection.

When should treatment be avoided?

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • Clotting disorders or use of blood-thinning medication
  • Active skin infection, herpes or strong active acne in the treatment area
  • Certain blood or platelet disorders
  • Tendency to keloids / raised scarring and active autoimmune conditions (individual assessment)

Aftercare

  • No make-up on the freshly treated skin for 24 hours
  • No intense sport, sauna or tanning for a few days
  • Consistent sun protection until the redness has subsided
  • Pause irritating skincare (acids, retinol) for a few days; gentle, moisturizing care

Every medical treatment carries risks. This information does not replace a personal medical consultation. The individual medical guidance on suitability, the procedure and possible side effects takes place before the treatment, at your in-person appointment.

Safety & quality

Why this treatment belongs in medical hands

The decisive point is the PRP: it is obtained from your own blood. In Germany, the collection and use of autologous blood products is a medical task under the Transfusion Act – blood may be drawn only by a physician or under a physician’s responsibility. We work exclusively with sterile single-use systems and never reuse equipment.

This is not a minor detail: the US health authority CDC documented HIV transmission after “vampire facial” treatments at an unlicensed facility that worked unhygienically and reused equipment. Performed properly, sterilely and by a physician, with your own plasma, the treatment is by contrast very well tolerated. The deeper-acting medical microneedling, too, belongs in trained, medically supervised hands because of the penetration depth.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is medical microneedling – and how does it differ from a home dermaroller?

Medical microneedling uses a sterile pen to create many fine micro-channels in the skin, stimulating the body’s own collagen production. It works in a controlled way at greater depth than a home dermaroller and is performed by a physician with single-use tips. Home rollers stay superficial and carry an infection risk if used unhygienically.

What does combining it with PRP add?

Microneedling creates fine channels through which the platelet-rich plasma (PRP) obtained from your own blood reaches the skin directly. The growth factors in PRP are intended to further drive regeneration. For acne scars, studies suggest an advantage of the combination over microneedling alone – the evidence is promising but limited.

Is the treatment painful?

Before microneedling we apply a numbing cream, so the treatment is usually well tolerated – many describe a light tingling or warm sensation. The small blood draw for the PRP is like a normal venipuncture.

How many sessions do I need and how often?

We usually recommend a course of about three sessions four to six weeks apart, then a top-up as needed. For acne scars more sessions may make sense. We clarify what suits your skin individually in the consultation.

How much downtime is there and what should I bear in mind afterwards?

Right afterwards the skin is sunburn-like red and may feel slightly tight; this usually subsides within one to two days. No make-up for 24 hours, no intense sport, sauna or tanning for a few days, plus consistent sun protection. Avoid irritating skincare (acids, retinol) for a few days.

Does microneedling help with acne scars?

Acne scars are the best-studied use: several studies show an improvement in scarring, and the combination with PRP tends to perform better than microneedling alone. However, the studies are mostly small and non-randomized. We tell you honestly what is realistic in your case and do not guarantee a result.

From what age is a “vampire lift” useful – and for whom?

There is no fixed minimum age; many opt for it for dull skin, early fine lines or acne scars from around their late 20s. The method suits you if you want to improve skin quality – but it adds no volume like a filler and does not replace a lift for pronounced skin laxity. During pregnancy and breastfeeding we do not treat as a precaution.

What does microneedling with PRP cost – and does insurance pay?

As an aesthetic service the treatment is self-funded; statutory health insurance does not cover it. The price depends on the area and the number of sessions and is set individually under the German medical fee schedule (GOÄ). We give the specific guide figure transparently in the personal consultation.
