What is a botulinum-toxin treatment?
Botulinum toxin is a prescription medicine that temporarily relaxes specific facial muscles. This smooths dynamic wrinkles caused by repeated movement – such as forehead lines or frown lines. The effect sets in after a few days and typically lasts three to six months.

Botulinum toxin for men and for prevention
Men, too, are increasingly treated – often on the forehead and frown lines. Because men’s facial muscles are often stronger, a somewhat higher dose can be needed to achieve a natural result. We dose individually so that the expression stays masculine and lively.
In early, preventive treatment, very small amounts are used so that emerging lines do not deepen in the first place. Whether this makes sense for your age and findings is something we discuss honestly – more is rarely better here.
A prescription medicine – only in a physician’s hands
In Germany, botulinum toxin is prescription-only, and the injection is a medical procedure. We expressly advise against treatments at so-called “Botox parties”, in beauty studios or by non-physicians – individual dosing, anatomical experience and preparedness for rare complications belong in medical hands.
We use only EU-approved brand preparations with batch documentation and dose individually for each person. Before every treatment we explain the benefits, limits and risks – in conversation and in writing.

- Common and temporary: mild redness, swelling or a small bruise at the injection site.
- Occasionally: headache or a feeling of tightness in the first few days.
- Rare: temporary drooping of an eyelid or brow, or asymmetric expression – usually resolving within a few weeks.
- Very rare: allergic reactions.
- Please contact us promptly if you notice increasing swelling, or vision, breathing or swallowing difficulties.
When should treatment be avoided?
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Certain neuromuscular conditions (e.g. myasthenia gravis)
- Known allergy to ingredients
- Acute infection or inflammation in the treatment area

Aftercare
- Do not rub or massage the treated areas for the first few hours
- Keep your head upright for about 4 hours; do not lie down
- No sport, sauna or tanning for 24 hours
- Blood thinners and alcohol increase the risk of bruising
Botulinum toxin is prescription-only and is always dosed individually by the physician here. We use sterile single-use needles and medical brand products with batch documentation.
Drug interactions: Some medications can intensify the effect of botulinum toxin – in particular certain antibiotics (aminoglycosides) and substances that affect nerve-to-muscle signalling (e.g. some muscle relaxants). Is botulinum toxin a “nerve poison” – is the treatment dangerous?
Botulinum toxin temporarily blocks nerve signals to the muscle. In the tiny, physician-dosed amount used for wrinkle treatment it is considered well studied and has been used in medicine for decades. Side effects are mostly mild and temporary. What matters is correct dosing, anatomical experience and physician delivery.
Can I have botulinum toxin during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
No. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, botulinum-toxin treatment is not recommended and we do not perform it. If you are pregnant, wish to become pregnant or are breastfeeding, please tell us – we will advise you on a sensible time.
Which product do you use for the botulinum-toxin treatment?
We use a high-quality, approved botulinum-toxin original product from an established manufacturer – deliberately proven brand quality rather than the cheapest preparation. As it is a prescription-only medicine, we are not permitted to name the product publicly; the physician will inform you in person. The product is stored correctly under refrigeration and dosed individually for you.
