Treating crow’s feet with botulinum toxin in Wolfsburg
Crow’s feet are the fine smile lines that fan out at the outer corners of the eyes when you smile. At our Wolfsburg practice, physician Rafee El Kaddour smooths these lines gently with botulinum toxin – finely dosed so your smile stays warm and genuine while only the deeper creases soften.
How does botulinum toxin work on crow’s feet?
Botulinum toxin relaxes the ring-shaped eye muscle (orbicularis oculi) at its outer edge. This means the smile lines fan out less when you smile and look smoother. The rest of your expression remains. The effect sets in after a few days and usually lasts three to four months.
The skin at the outer corners of the eyes is very thin and mobile, and orbicularis oculi is a flat, superficial muscle. We therefore inject very finely and shallowly with small amounts at usually two to three points per side – just outside the bony rim of the eye socket, to spare neighbouring muscles.
A key goal is preserving a natural smile. If the injection is placed too deep or too far toward the cheek, the smile muscle (zygomaticus) can be affected – the smile then looks flatter or asymmetric. With correct point selection and conservative dosing this is reliably avoided.
Crow’s feet are partly dynamic (visible only when smiling) and partly static (fine lines even at rest). Botulinum toxin works very well on the dynamic part in particular. Fine resting lines from sun damage and dryness are better addressed additionally through skincare, sun protection or skin boosters.
How the treatment works
- 01Free introductory appointment and an initial look at your smile and the course of the lines
- 02Marking of usually two to three points per side, just outside the eye socket
- 03Very fine, shallow injections with small amounts
- 04Brief cooling if needed, as this area tends toward small bruises
- 05Duration: about 10 minutes, typically with no downtime
Results & longevity
First effects appear after three to four days, the final result after about two weeks. The eye area looks smoother and brighter when you smile, without losing the smile itself. Around the eyes the effect tends to last a little shorter – usually three to four months.
Results are individual and can vary depending on your starting point, muscle activity and dosing. You will receive a realistic assessment for your situation in a personal consultation.
Risks & side effects
Risks & side effects
- Common: small bruises, as the skin at the eye corners contains many fine vessels.
- Occasionally: temporary swelling or a mild feeling of tightness.
- If injected too deep or too low: a flatter or asymmetric smile if the smile muscle is affected – temporary and avoidable with experience.
- Rare: more fine lines below the eye if the lower lid muscle is relaxed too much.
When should treatment be avoided?
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Certain neuromuscular conditions (e.g. myasthenia gravis)
- Known allergy to ingredients of botulinum toxin
- Acute infection or inflammation around the eye corners
- A pronounced tendency to swelling or impaired lymphatic drainage under the eyes (e.g. festoons/eye bags) – botulinum toxin can worsen the swelling here
Aftercare
- Do not rub or massage the eye area for the first few hours
- Keep your head upright for about 4 hours; do not lie down
- No sport, sauna or tanning for 24 hours
- Cooling eases possible bruises; use eye make-up sparingly on the treatment day

Frequently asked questions
Will my smile stay natural?
Yes. We place the points deliberately just outside the eye socket and dose finely, so the smile muscle is unaffected and your smile stays genuine.
Why do I bruise more easily around the eyes?
The skin at the eye corners is thin and rich in fine vessels. Small bruises are more common there but usually fade within a few days.
How long does it last around the eyes?
Usually three to four months, as the eye muscle is very mobile – tending to be a little shorter than on the forehead.
What does a crow’s feet treatment cost in Wolfsburg?
Wrinkle treatments with botulinum toxin start from €119, depending on the amount needed. The introductory appointment is free and without obligation.
Does the treatment around the eyes hurt?
The fine, shallow injections are usually well tolerated – a brief prick per point. As the area tends toward small bruises, we cool before and after if needed.
What should I keep in mind after a crow’s feet treatment?
Do not rub the eye area for the first few hours, keep your head upright; no sport or sauna for 24 hours. Use eye make-up sparingly on the treatment day; cooling eases possible bruises.
