Fat-dissolving injection (lipolysis)

Contouring the hips with the fat-dissolving injection in Wolfsburg

Small fat pockets on the hips – often called “love handles” – persist in some people despite diet and exercise. In Wolfsburg, physician Rafee El Kaddour uses the fat-dissolving injection (injection lipolysis) here only for subtle contouring of small, clearly defined areas and tells you openly that efficacy on the body is far less well established than at the chin. It is not a weight-loss tool and does not replace liposuction.

Does the fat-dissolving injection work on the hips?

An active solution is injected into a small hip pocket to dissolve fat cells there; the body breaks the material down over weeks. Evidence for body areas is limited and results are subtle and variable. The method is not suitable for larger amounts of fat or excess weight.

On the trunk – including the hips – the evidence for injection lipolysis is far thinner than at the double chin. Studies suggest effects are best in the face and on average smaller on body areas. We are therefore deliberately cautious here and promise no particular result.

The hip is suitable only for small, clearly defined pockets at a normal body weight with good skin tone. For larger volumes, pronounced “love handles” or excess weight, the injection is not the right approach – surgical liposuction gives more reliable results here, and we tell you so honestly.

Important legal note: in Germany, injection lipolysis is largely an off-label procedure. “Lemon Bottle” has no EU approval as a medicine or medical device, and there are no robust studies on its safety and efficacy. We explain this fully before treatment and treat only with your informed consent.

As larger areas are treated on the body, usually two to four sessions a few weeks apart are needed. After each session, pronounced swelling in the hip area is expected and normal.

Procedure & duration

How the treatment works

  1. 01Free consultation and honest suitability check (small area vs. larger fat volume)
  2. 02Briefing on the off-label status, the lack of EU approval and the limited body-area evidence
  3. 03Marking of the small, clearly defined hip pocket
  4. 04Several fine injections into the fat deposit (grid pattern)
  5. 05Duration: about 20–30 minutes per session; usually 2–4 sessions needed
Results & longevity

Results & longevity

Pronounced swelling in the hip area is normal after treatment and can last several days. First changes appear after a few weeks at the earliest, and the result builds over several sessions. Results on the body are subtle, vary widely and are not comparable to liposuction.

Results are individual and may vary. Before/after images show real treatments and are published only with the patient’s explicit consent.

Safety & guidance

Risks & side effects

Risks & side effects

  • Common and expected: pronounced swelling, redness, pressure and tenderness at the hip, often for several days.
  • Occasionally: bruising, firmness or nodules that resolve over weeks.
  • Rare: infection, palpable contour irregularities, temporary nerve irritation.
  • Limits of the method: limited body-area evidence, subtle and variable results; no guarantee of success and no substitute for liposuction.
  • Please contact us with severe swelling, fever, increasing pain or signs of infection.

Aftercare

  • Gentle cooling can ease the swelling at the hip
  • Drinking plenty and moving help the body clear the material
  • No intense sport, sauna or tanning for the first 24–48 hours
  • Swelling, a feeling of pressure and possible firmness for several days are normal

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Will my hips become slimmer?

At most subtly and only with small pockets. The method is not weight loss; results on the body are limited and variable.

Why does it work less well on the hips than the chin?

Body-area evidence is thin and effects there are on average smaller than in the face. We therefore advise especially cautiously here.

Is “Lemon Bottle” approved for the hips?

No. Injection lipolysis is largely off-label; “Lemon Bottle” has no EU approval. We brief you beforehand and treat only after consent.

Would liposuction make more sense?

For larger hip pads, yes – it gives more reliable results. The injection only suits small, clearly defined areas.

How many sessions are needed?

Usually two to four a few weeks apart. We cannot guarantee a particular result.
