Treating jowls with the fat-dissolving injection in Wolfsburg
Jowls are small fat pads that settle along the jawline and soften the contour. In Wolfsburg, physician Rafee El Kaddour uses the fat-dissolving injection (injection lipolysis) to assess honestly whether you truly have a clearly defined fat deposit or rather loose skin. Only small, easily palpable fat pockets suit this method – it is not a weight-loss tool and does not replace surgery.
How does the fat-dissolving injection work on jowls?
An active solution is injected into the small fat deposit along the jawline to dissolve the fat cells there; the body breaks the material down over weeks. Marked swelling afterwards is normal and part of how it works. With loose skin and no real fat pad, the method is not suitable.
Jowls sit right next to the well-studied double chin but are smaller and harder to delineate. Evidence for injection lipolysis is better in the face than on the trunk or legs, yet there is still no guarantee of success: results vary individually and are subtle. A normal body weight and good skin tone are prerequisites.
The honest distinction in the consultation is decisive: if the “jowls” result from declining skin elasticity and descending cheek fat, dissolving fat does not help – it may even make the contour look slimmer and therefore more lax. Other approaches then make more sense, which we discuss openly with you.
Important note on legal status: in Germany, injection lipolysis is largely an off-label procedure. The product “Lemon Bottle” has no EU approval as a medicine or medical device, and there are no robust studies on its safety and efficacy. We explain this in detail before every treatment and treat only with your informed consent.
Usually two to four sessions a few weeks apart are needed. The result builds up step by step; each session is followed by a phase of swelling and pressure along the jawline.
How the treatment works
- 01Free consultation and honest suitability check (real fat pad vs. skin laxity)
- 02Briefing on the off-label status and the lack of EU approval for “Lemon Bottle”
- 03Marking of the small fat pads along the jawline
- 04Several very fine injections into the deposit
- 05Duration: about 15–20 minutes per session; usually 2–4 sessions needed
Results & longevity
After treatment, marked swelling along the jawline is normal and can last a few days. First subtle changes appear after a few weeks, and the result builds over several sessions. Results vary individually, are finer than at the double chin and are not comparable to liposuction.
Results are individual and may vary. Before/after images show real treatments and are published only with the patient’s explicit consent.
Risks & side effects
Risks & side effects
- Common and expected: marked swelling, pressure and tenderness along the jawline, often for several days.
- Occasionally: bruising, firmness or itching in the cheek area.
- Rare: infection, contour irregularities, temporary irritation of nerve branches near the mouth corner.
- Limits of the method: with skin laxity instead of a real fat pad, no meaningful result can be expected – we then do not treat.
- Please contact us with severe swelling, fever, increasing pain or signs of infection.
Aftercare
- Gentle cooling can ease the swelling along the jawline
- Drinking plenty and moving help the body clear the material
- No intense sport, sauna or tanning for the first 24–48 hours
- Swelling and a feeling of pressure for several days are normal

Does the injection help against sagging cheeks?
Only if there is a real, small fat pad. With loose skin and no fat deposit the method is not suitable – we check this honestly.
How many sessions do I need for jowls?
Usually two to four sessions a few weeks apart. There is no guarantee of a particular result.
Is “Lemon Bottle” approved for this treatment?
No. Injection lipolysis is largely off-label; “Lemon Bottle” has no EU approval. We brief you fully beforehand and treat only after consent.
Is the swelling afterwards strong?
Marked swelling on the cheek is normal and part of how it works. It usually subsides over a few days.
