Banana fold (lower buttock) with the fat-dissolving injection in Wolfsburg
The so-called banana fold is a small fat pad just beneath the buttock crease that makes the transition to the thigh look less firm. In Wolfsburg, physician Rafee El Kaddour uses the fat-dissolving injection (injection lipolysis) to assess honestly whether a clearly defined fat deposit is present, and points out openly that evidence for this small zone is limited. It is not a weight-loss tool, does not replace liposuction and cannot lift a descended buttock.
What is the banana fold and how is it treated?
The banana fold is a small fat pad below the buttock. An active solution is injected precisely into it to dissolve the fat cells there; the body breaks the material down over weeks. Only a small, clearly defined deposit with good skin tone is suitable – not a lax or descended buttock contour.
The banana fold is a very limited, anatomically delicate area. Evidence for injection lipolysis here is especially thin, as this zone is rarely studied separately. We therefore treat it only when a clearly palpable, small fat pad is present, and promise no particular result.
The honest distinction matters: if the area looks uneven mainly due to loose skin or an overall descended buttock, dissolving fat does not help – it could even make the contour appear slacker. In such cases the injection is not the right approach, and we openly advise against it.
Important legal note: in Germany, injection lipolysis is largely an off-label procedure. “Lemon Bottle” has no EU approval as a medicine or medical device, and there are no robust studies on its safety and efficacy. We explain this fully before treatment and treat only with your informed consent.
Usually two to four sessions a few weeks apart are needed. After each session, pronounced swelling around the buttock crease is normal and part of how it works; sitting may be uncomfortable in the first few days.
How the treatment works
- 01Free introductory appointment and honest suitability check (small fat pad vs. skin laxity/descended buttock)
- 02Briefing on the off-label status, the lack of EU approval and the especially limited evidence for this zone
- 03Marking of the small banana fold beneath the buttock crease
- 04Several very fine injections into the defined fat deposit
- 05Duration: about 15–25 minutes per session; usually 2–4 sessions needed
Results & longevity
Pronounced swelling around the buttock crease is normal after treatment and can last several days; sitting may be uncomfortable at first. First changes appear after a few weeks at the earliest, and the result builds over several sessions. Results are subtle, vary greatly between individuals and are not comparable to liposuction.
Results are individual and can vary depending on your starting point, muscle activity and dosing. You will receive a realistic assessment for your situation in a personal consultation.
Risks & side effects
Risks & side effects
- Common and expected: pronounced swelling, pressure and tenderness at the buttock crease, often for several days; sitting may be uncomfortable.
- Occasionally: bruising, firmness or nodules that resolve over weeks.
- Rare: infection, palpable contour irregularities, temporary nerve irritation.
- Limits of the method: especially limited evidence for this zone; no effect with skin laxity or a descended buttock; no guarantee of success.
- Please contact us with severe swelling, fever, increasing pain or signs of infection.
When should treatment be avoided?
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Excess weight or a wish to lose weight – the fat-dissolving injection is not a weight-loss method and does not replace liposuction
- Acute infection or inflammation in the treatment area; known allergy to components of the active solution
- Bleeding disorders or blood-thinning medication and active autoimmune conditions – we weigh these up individually
- A descended buttock or skin laxity instead of a delineable fat pad – dissolving fat does not lift the buttock and may even make the contour look slacker
Aftercare
- Gentle cooling can ease the swelling at the buttock crease
- Avoid prolonged sitting in the first few days if possible; drinking plenty and moving help the body clear the material
- No intense sport, sauna or tanning for the first 24–48 hours
- Swelling, a feeling of pressure and possible firmness for several days are normal
Who is it for?
Suitable only for a small, clearly defined fat pad of the banana fold at a normal body weight with good skin tone. Not suitable for skin laxity, a descended buttock or as a weight-loss method.
Every medical treatment carries risks. This information does not replace a personal medical consultation. The individual medical guidance on suitability, the procedure and possible side effects takes place before the treatment, at your in-person appointment.

View pricingFrequently asked questions
Can the injection tighten or lift my buttock?
No. It only dissolves a small, defined fat pad and can neither tighten nor lift a descended buttock.
Why is the evidence so limited here?
The banana fold is a very small area, rarely studied separately. We therefore advise especially cautiously and honestly here.
What does treating the banana fold cost?
Contouring the banana fold with the fat-dissolving injection starts from €199 per session; usually two to four sessions are needed. The exact price depends on the area and number of sessions and is set individually under the German medical fee schedule (GOÄ).
Does treating the banana fold hurt?
During the injection you may feel pressure or burning; we use very fine needles. Afterwards, pronounced swelling at the buttock crease is normal – sitting may be uncomfortable in the first few days.
Is “Lemon Bottle” approved for the lower buttock?
No. Injection lipolysis is largely off-label; “Lemon Bottle” has no EU approval. We brief you beforehand and treat only after consent.
Can I sit normally after treatment?
In the first few days sitting may be uncomfortable due to swelling. This is normal and usually subsides over a few days.
How many sessions do I need?
Usually two to four a few weeks apart. We cannot promise a particular result for this zone.
