Cheek augmentation with hyaluronic acid in Wolfsburg
A cheek augmentation with hyaluronic acid restores lost mid-face volume at our Wolfsburg practice. Over the years the cheek fat descends and the cheekbones project less – the face looks flatter and more tired. Physician Rafee El Kaddour places volume precisely where it belongs, so the cheeks look defined again and the lower face is gently supported from above.
How does a cheek augmentation with hyaluronic acid work?
A firmer hyaluronic-acid gel is placed deep over the cheekbone, often with a blunt cannula. It supports the tissue from within, gently lifts the descended mid-face and gives the cheek contour. The effect is visible immediately and is slowly broken down by the body over months.
The cheek is a central anchor of the face: when the mid-face is supported, the nasolabial folds and mouth area also look less sunken. We therefore build volume where it carries the architecture of the face – not across a broad area, but at a few defined points.
For the cheek we use a more stable, more highly cross-linked gel than for the lips, because it supports the tissue longer and holds its shape better. Deep over the bone we prefer a blunt micro-cannula, which lowers the risk of injuring vessels.
We dose conservatively and often across two appointments: this keeps the result controllable and avoids a “padded” or overly wide face. The aim is a naturally defined cheek that suits your proportions – not a changed face.
A cheek augmentation does not replace a surgical lift. With pronounced skin laxity, filler can add volume but cannot tighten excess skin – we discuss this honestly in the consultation.
How the treatment works
- 01Free introductory appointment and an initial look at the mid-face, cheekbones and proportions
- 02Marking of a few support points over the cheekbone
- 03Treatment preferably with a blunt micro-cannula, placed deep
- 04Local anaesthetic on request; many gels already contain a local anaesthetic
- 05Duration: about 30 minutes, usually with no downtime
Results & longevity
The result is visible immediately; once mild swelling subsides (a few days) the final contour appears. As the cheek is a comparatively calm area, hyaluronic acid usually lasts about 12 to 18 months here – noticeably longer than on the lips. It can then be refreshed.
Results are individual and can vary depending on your starting point, muscle activity and dosing. You will receive a realistic assessment for your situation in a personal consultation.
Risks & side effects
Risks & side effects
- Common and temporary: swelling, tenderness and small bruises over the cheekbone.
- Occasionally: palpable unevenness or slight asymmetry, usually easy to balance out.
- With too much volume: an overly wide or “padded” mid-face – avoidable with conservative dosing.
- Very rare but serious: vascular occlusion if filler enters a vessel. We therefore treat preferably with a blunt cannula and keep the antidote hyaluronidase plus an emergency protocol ready; hyaluronic acid is also dissolvable.
- Contact us immediately in case of severe or increasing pain, pale/blotchy skin discolouration or changes in vision.
When should treatment be avoided?
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Active infection or inflammation in the cheek area
- Known allergy to hyaluronic acid or components of the gel
- Tendency to lumpy/keloid scarring or an active autoimmune condition in an inflammatory phase – we weigh these up individually
- Pronounced skin laxity in the mid-face – here filler only adds volume but does not tighten the excess skin; in such cases a surgical lift is often the better choice, and we say so openly
Aftercare
- Do not massage or press the cheeks firmly for 24–48 hours (unless instructed)
- No intense sport, sauna or tanning for the first 24 hours
- For the first nights, try not to lie firmly on the treated side
- Cooling eases swelling; alcohol and blood thinners promote bruising
Who is it for?
Suitable when the mid-face has lost volume and the cheeks look flat or tired. A cheek augmentation gives contour and gently supports the lower face; pronounced skin laxity, however, cannot be tightened this way.

Frequently asked questions
Will my face look wider afterwards?
Not with conservative dosing. We place volume specifically for support, not across a broad area – the goal is a defined, natural cheek.
How much filler does a cheek augmentation need?
It depends on the volume loss. A few support points are often enough; we prefer to build up conservatively and over two appointments rather than placing too much at once. We define the exact amount together during the analysis.
Can the cheek filler shift or migrate?
With correct, deep placement over the bone the gel stays where it is set. “Migration” usually results from excessive amounts – which is why we deliberately dose conservatively. If needed, hyaluronic acid can be dissolved again with hyaluronidase.
What should I keep in mind after a cheek augmentation?
Do not massage or press the cheeks firmly for 24–48 hours, and avoid intense sport, sauna and tanning for the first 24 hours. Mild swelling over a few days is normal; the final result appears once it subsides.
Does a cheek augmentation lift the lower face?
Indirectly and subtly: supporting the mid-face makes the nasolabial folds and mouth area look less sunken. It does not replace a surgical lift.
How long does a cheek augmentation last?
On the calm cheek usually about 12 to 18 months – longer than on the lips. It can then be refreshed.
Why treat with a cannula instead of a needle?
The blunt micro-cannula tends to glide past vessels rather than piercing them. This lowers the risk of bruising and of a vascular occlusion.
What does a cheek augmentation cost in Wolfsburg?
Cheek augmentation starts from €249 per ml, depending on the volume needed. The introductory appointment is free and without obligation.
