Chin augmentation & correction with hyaluronic acid in Wolfsburg
A chin augmentation with hyaluronic acid harmonises the profile at our Wolfsburg practice when the chin lacks projection or looks receding. Even small amounts can noticeably improve the balance between nose, lips and chin. Physician Rafee El Kaddour fine-tunes the build-up both in side profile and from the front, so the result suits your features naturally.
How does a chin augmentation with hyaluronic acid work?
A firm hyaluronic-acid gel is placed precisely on the chin to add forward projection or length and to balance small asymmetries. This harmonises the profile without surgery. The result is visible immediately, holds its shape and can be dissolved again if needed.
The chin largely defines the profile. A receding or short chin can make the nose look larger and the lower face less defined. With a firm gel we can build forward projection, height or the centre of the chin in a targeted way, improving the balance between nose, lips and chin.
We use a strongly cross-linked, supportive gel and place it mostly deep on the bone. This keeps the result shape-stable and natural-looking. On request we often combine the chin augmentation with the jawline to frame the entire lower face harmoniously.
A filler chin augmentation is a good way to “try out” a shape before considering a permanent option – the result is reversible. Very pronounced corrections or skeletal misalignments, however, cannot be solved with filler alone; we discuss this honestly.
How the treatment works
- 01Free introductory appointment and an initial look at the nose–lips–chin balance
- 02Marking of the build-up points on the chin (projection, height, centre)
- 03Treatment with a fine needle or blunt cannula, mostly deep on the bone
- 04Local anaesthetic on request; many gels already contain a local anaesthetic
- 05Duration: about 20–30 minutes, usually with no downtime
Results & longevity
The result is visible immediately; once mild swelling subsides the final shape appears. As the chin is a calm, well-supported area, hyaluronic acid usually lasts about 12 to 18 months here. The build-up can then be refreshed or adjusted.
Results are individual and can vary depending on your starting point, muscle activity and dosing. You will receive a realistic assessment for your situation in a personal consultation.
Risks & side effects
Risks & side effects
- Common and temporary: swelling, tenderness and small bruises on the chin.
- Occasionally: palpable unevenness or slight asymmetry, usually easy to correct.
- Rare: a somewhat “angular” or over-emphasised chin with too much volume – avoidable with gradual dosing.
- Very rare but serious: vascular occlusion if filler enters a vessel. Where possible we work with a blunt cannula and keep the antidote hyaluronidase plus an emergency protocol ready for an emergency; hyaluronic acid is dissolvable.
- Contact us immediately in case of severe or increasing pain, pale/blotchy skin discolouration or changes in vision.
When should treatment be avoided?
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Active infection or inflammation in the chin and mouth area
- Known allergy to hyaluronic acid or components of the gel
- Tendency to lumpy/keloid scarring or an active autoimmune condition in an inflammatory phase – we weigh these up individually
- Pronounced skeletal jaw malalignment (e.g. a marked underbite) – here a filler build-up is limited; an orthodontic/maxillofacial assessment or a chin implant may be more appropriate, which we discuss honestly
Aftercare
- Do not massage or press the chin firmly for 24–48 hours (unless instructed)
- No intense sport, sauna or tanning for the first 24 hours
- Briefly avoid pressure from hand, mask or helmet on the treated area
- Cooling eases swelling; alcohol and blood thinners promote bruising
Who is it for?
Ideal when a receding or short chin makes the profile look unbalanced. Even small amounts harmonise the balance between nose, lips and chin; very strong corrections or skeletal misalignments are not possible with filler alone.

Frequently asked questions
Can I improve my profile with filler?
Often yes. A targeted chin augmentation adds projection and balances the relationship between nose, lips and chin – without surgery and reversibly.
Does filler help with a receding chin?
For a mildly to moderately receding chin, a firm gel can add forward projection and harmonise the profile. If a pronounced skeletal misalignment is the cause, the options are limited – we assess this honestly beforehand.
Filler or chin surgery/implant – which is better?
Filler is reversible and well suited to trying out a shape first or making mild corrections. For very pronounced or permanent changes, an implant or a surgical procedure can be the more stable solution. We say openly when filler reaches its limits.
What should I keep in mind after a chin augmentation?
Do not massage or press the chin firmly for 24–48 hours (including from leaning, a mask or a helmet), and avoid intense sport, sauna and tanning for the first 24 hours. Mild swelling is normal; the final result appears once it subsides.
How long does a chin augmentation last?
On the calm, well-supported chin usually about 12 to 18 months – longer than on the lips. It can then be refreshed.
Can the chin augmentation be dissolved?
Yes. As we use hyaluronic acid, the result can be dissolved or corrected with the enzyme hyaluronidase if needed.
Can the chin and jawline be treated together?
Yes, they often complement each other well: chin and jawline together frame the lower face more harmoniously. We discuss the scope individually.
